Canada is second largest country in the world. It takes about 4 days to travel across Canada by car or train. The total aria of the country is 10 million square km.

The story of Canada goes back over 400 years. Now Canada is a Federal state consisting of 10 provinces and 2 territories.

Canada is a land of different kinds of scenery (сннари). It is a land of beautiful beaches and rocky shores, of high mountings and rolling hills of flat yellow prairies and green pastures. It has 7 of the world’s largest lakes and many rivers. About 25% of its territory is covered by the forest.

Such a variety of scenery provides a variety of vegetation and wild life. It is represented by different kinds of bears (grizzly, black polar), deer, bison, wolf and coyote.

The climate varies from Artic in the North to moderate in the East and West. 

Canada is a constitutional monarchy. It is the member of the British Common – wealth. It is round by a parliamentary system with the head of the state the monarchy on Britain.

The leading figure in the political life of the country is the prime minister.

The main political parties are: the conservative, the liberal, the new democratic, the reform party, the federal party is Ottawa. Canada’s flag was proclaimed in 1965 in the central there is a red maple leaf.
