- New York is one of the largest cities in the world. 
  Its population is over 11 million people. New York is an industrial 
  and cultural centre of the country.  It is the business centre of the United States. New York is situated 
  in the mouth of the Hudson river. It was founded in 1613 by Dutch settlers. New York is also known as New Amsterdam or the Big Apple.
There are five districts in the city: Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens, 
Brooklyn and Richmond. 
  - Manhattan is the central and the oldest part of the city. It is the district of business and 
  finance.  Manhattan (New York County) is the most densely populated borough 
  and is home to Central Park and most of the city's skyscrapers. It 
  is here in Wall Street that many business offices, banks and the world 
  famous New York stock exchange are situated. The New York stock exchange 
  dominates business life of many countries.
- The Bronx (Bronx County) is New York City's situated on the north side , the location of Yankee Stadium, home of the New 
  York Yankees, and home to the largest cooperatively owned housing complex 
  in the United States, Co-op City. There are a ;ot of poor people, very big percent of murder and drugs. 
  This part of town is included small old buildings, it hasn’t big great and rich skyscrapers.
- Brooklyn (Kings County) on the western tip of Long Island, is the city's most populous borough and was an independent 
  city until 1898.   One of the architectural wonders of New York is a 
  famous Brooklyn Bridge, which crosses the East River strait. The 
  length of the bridge is 1825 meters and it connects Manhattan with Brooklyn. 
- Queens (Queens County) on Long Island east of Brooklyn.  Queens is 
  the site of Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets, and annually 
  hosts the U.S. Open tennis tournament. Additionally, it is home to two 
  of the three major airports serving the New York metropolitan area, 
  LaGuardia Airport and John F. Kennedy International Airport. (The third 
  is Newark Liberty International Airport in Newark, New Jersey.)
- Staten Island (Richmond County) is the most suburban in character 
  of the five boroughs. Staten Island is connected to Brooklyn by the 
  Verrazano-Narrows Bridge and to Manhattan by way of the free Staten 
  Island Ferry. The Staten Island Ferry is one of the most popular tourist 
  attractions in New York City.
- There are a great number 
  of places to visit in the city, but one of the most famous sights is 
  the 
Statue of Liberty. People from all over the world want to see this 
giant sculpture of a woman, who is the national symbol of freedom. 
Another famous sight is the 
Broadway Street. It’s situated in Manhattan and houses lots of 
banks and other commercial organizations. There are also lots of entertaining 
and spectacular facilities which turned the Broadway into the symbol 
of entertainment industry. 
Other interesting architectures in the Big Apple 
are the skyscrapers: Empire State Building and Chrysler 
Building. 
If you like Art you can  find many interesting museums 
in this city. New York has many museums and art galleries 
which have collected works of art of many peoples and of all times. 
Many of them are on constant display in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, 
the Whitney Museum of Art. Most of the theatres and cinemas are in or 
near Broadway, the longest street and the biggest shopping district 
in New York. The Metropolitan and Modern Arts Museums attract many visitors.
