Lutsk, Лoutesk is euphonic words which return us in the days of grey antiquity - on an island, where a picturesque and at the same time mighty city was conceived. City which during the centuries-old history repeatedly was the arena of determining historical events. Located on crossing of trade-routes which conduced to the countries of the West and the Baltic States, Lutsk gradually grew into an important economic center; navigable arteries connected a city with Kyiv, ports of Ukraine and other black sea states.

is euphonic words which return us in the days of grey antiquity - on
an island, where a picturesque and at the same time mighty city was
conceived. City which during the centuries-old history repeatedly was
the arena of determining historical events. Located on crossing of trade-routes
which conduced to the countries of the West and the Baltic States, Lutsk
gradually grew into an important economic center; navigable arteries
connected a city with Kyiv, ports of Ukraine and other black sea states.
However development of ancient Lutsk would be impossible without an
advantageous defensive location - from a north and west of city boundaries
determined by the bend of the river of Stur, Glushets flowed on a south,
east was surrounded by impassable bogs. From here and the name of city
- Luchesk - from a word "bow", id est "knees, bend of
the river". Other legend binds the name "Luchesk" to
the name of leader of східнослов'янського tribe of
dubuliv - Luke which put beginning to ancient.
Лучеськ, Лоучеськ — милозвучні слова, що повертають нас у часи сивої давнини — на острів, де зародилося мальовниче і водночас могутнє місто. Місто, що протягом своєї багатовікової історії неодноразово було ареною доленосних історичних подій. Розташований на перетині торговельних шляхів, що вели до країн Заходу та Прибалтики, Луцьк поступово перетворився на важливий економічний центр; судноплавні артерії з'єднували місто з Києвом, портами України та інших чорноморських держав. Однак розвиток стародавнього Луцька був би неможливий без вигідного оборонного розташування — з півночі та заходу межі міста визначалися вигином ріки Стир, на півдні протікав Глушець, схід оточили непрохідні болота. Звідси і назва міста — Лучеськ — від слова «лук», тобто «колін, вигин ріки». Інша легенда пов'язує назву «Лучеськ» з ім'ям вождя східнослов'янського племені дулібів — Луки, який і започаткував стародавнє
