Higher education in Spain

In Spain, higher education can only be obtained at the university. Spain just 47 public and 10 private (recognized by the state) universities. There is also a military and religious schools. The most prestigious and oldest university - in Salamanca, Barcelona and Granada.

                   The University consists of :

 

 –faculties (facultades universitarias), where are taught humanities and natural sciences theoretical subjects;

 –school of Engineering (escuelas tecnicas superiores);

 –schools (escuelas universitarias) - provide training for entry-level;

 –  colleges (colegios universitarias) - do not give career guidance, the students pass only a general introductory course of lectures, preparing to move to a higher technical school or faculty.

 

 

Academic Year is almost the same with the Russian in Spain: first semester runs from mid-September to the end of December. Second - from mid-February until the end of May.

 

 

Study in Spain is divided into three parts :

First - it's two years of study in any of the departments of the University. At the end of the first cycle, students receive:

 «Arguitecto Tecnico» - degree awarded to graduates

 «Ingeniero Tecnico» - the degree is awarded to students of technical specialties

  «Diplomado» - degree awarded to students studying in all other directions.

  They all meet the bachelor's degree and are recognized in Europe.

 

 

The second cycle lasts as two or three years and ends with a qualification, in general, the relevant master's degree.

The third cycle - graduate school, which lasts two to three years, ends with a degree «Doctor». Naturally, to obtain it is necessary to prepare a thesis.

The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Alcala de Henares

 

Faculty building is located outside of city. Training conducted for medicine and science of physical activity and sport. Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Don Jose Vicente Perez Szasz, professor of microbiology.
