«Myth» means story. These stories try to explain the world, life and afterlife. Greek Mythology is a form of this storytelling that is probably the most familiar to us, but many civilizations have their own set of myths and mythological characters.
The Greeks were polytheistic in their religious beliefs: they believed in and worshiped many different gods. In Greek mythology, the gods often represented different forms of nature. Greek mythology had no formal structure with the exception of various festivals held in honor of the gods. There was no sacred book or code of conduct to live by.

The most powerful Greek gods were known as the Olympians. The Greeks believed the Olympians lived on the highest mountain in Greece, Mount Olympus. The Olympian gods included: Zeus, Hera, Apollo, Aphrodite, Ares, Artemis, Athena, Demeter, Hades, Hermes, Hephaestus, Poseidon and Hestia.
Aphrodite - goddess of love and beauty
Athena - goddess of wisdom, war
Hades - god of the underworld
Hestia - goddess of the hearth and home
Poseidon - god of the sea
The Titans, also known as the Elder Gods, were the gods who ruled before the Olympians. The ruler of the Titans was Cronus, who was overthrown by his son, Zeus.
Cronus is the youngest of the 12 original Titans. He is also known as the god of time and agriculture.
The Creatures are an assortment of animals from the main myths of Greek mythology. Most of them were once gods or people, but were turned into hideous monsters by curses. Medusa, the gorgon, for example, was once a beautiful young girl, but was cursed and turned into a gorgon.
Minotaur was a Monstrous creature with head of a bull and body of a human.
The ancient Greeks had a brilliant imagination and created one of the richest and most complete set of characters: gods, demigods and heroes and passed them on to us.
